That's mad, 24500 times a year! Where are you getting your figures from? I feel a Facebook post coming but need to be evidenced.
Based on worst case scenario of each animal producing 18 litres of waste per day, which is way above what is actually produced as the 1.7 million cattle aren't all adult cows.

Cows stayed out here last night, mowed 17 acres that was too big for grazing this morning and 12 acres that’ll set my rotation up for the zero grazer.
Don’t see main crop of 1st cut until the week beginning the 6th I’d say

In the interest of balance, a very large part portion of what is discharged will be storm water, not sewage. Still not acceptable though.

In the interest of balance,a very large part portion of what is in my above ground is rain water. The difference is I can't dump that into a water course. NI water are permitted. The sewage plant at Clonoe which is discharging daily in the news article, I know it's location. It's probably less than a mile from Lough Neagh. Who gets the blame for polluting the Lough?

Des Meehan drilled ours 30 years ago
They drilled our first one around then too. Sewer pipe for liner and just dropped at the back of the hedge, got water about 300ft down. Melvin Ennis (Tec Rock, newtownabbey) did no 2, @15 years ago, surveyed it got water at 70 ft, less than 100m from the other well and was dumbfounded they actually found water in the original one. Proper well liner with recessed threads. Far better job, but not sure if he's still on the go, was an old fella at that stage

Neither should be discharged.
