I would guess that you have had more rain than us over the last number of weeks so it might be still worthwhile for you. We're still sowing, but at a reduced rate, but you still see the granules on the ground, even from fields sowed over 4 weeks ago.

Not sure really about the rain. My locality, and I'm talking only about the townlands I farm in, has been pretty deprived of moisture to be honest. I sow everything (including heifer grazing) after each cut, and did so this year regardless of rain, or lack thereof. I think it was right so far, because there has been at least one good days rain between each cut to wash it in. The timing of those days hasn't been very opportune, but they did come, even if it was three weeks late.

The slurry spread is going to take a long long time to break down. There's shy of 6k gal/acre of slurry organic matter sitting stuck to the top of the sod from two applications, and it's going to take a bit of softening before the bugs and the beetles get it all broken down.

Planned no. Kept the cows in at night this year and they have held their milk very well. Couple extra, overstock, sale needed. Selling extra cows would probably be a easier way off getting the extra money. Time yet to let them go

Just did a fly past Ballymoney area , can’t believe how green it is . Even saw a half decent crop of silage being baled. Neighbour baled some ground and the driver struggled to see 30 ft awards .

We've had a great year from 10th may on. Cows and cattle easy grazed. More silage made than last year. We've had 2 bad years so we needed a break. 2nd cut in which allows more land for grazing

Pretty much the same here. Took some 2nd cut 10 days ago, some of which was light, but we wanted to get a 3rd cut off it. Put the rest in today and it had bulked out well since the rain on Sunday. Rain forecast overnight and in the morning to keep things ticking over.
Silos aren't sinking after they are filled and no seep at all, so I reckon silage will go further when feeding, at least I keep telling myself that.
