Aye. 90% of the field would have sowed the day after ploughing, but theres a heavy vein about 15 yards wide that needs time. It was really solid. The last generation owner never had a go ploughing it in his fifty years, but it's likely some industrious soul worked it with horses in the past.

I recall a similar conversation to this a year ago about grazing September grass on this thread. Our grass sampled on Monday was 15% Dm, 24% Protein and 11.8 ME. The dry matter is the killer but it still kicks the arse of most silage. Currently taking between 13-14 litres of it at over 3.5 % Protein with a stale herd of cows. The 3 freshly calved cows seem to be doing fine with no silage, but apparently I'd better keep my fingers crossed on that front.
Our grass analysed much the same something like 29% protein!! Very high in nitrogen which could be why they weren’t eating it.

That is high! Our lowest protein reading this year was at the height of the drought when we had one at 16%. For the last 7 weeks it has averaged in the region of 24-25% whilst the Dm has been steadily slipping back from 28% to about 15% now

Disc would be really nice, but unless we want to spend two days gathering stones, the only cultivator we can use is a power harrow. Even the land leveller is a pain for flicking up stones. I try to let it stay in the nettles as much as possible. Harrow, land leveller, and another light tickle with the power harrow just to tap stones in works most times too. Also it firms it down well. If it's too loose and fluffy it can sink unevenly and end up rough.

Where would I get 8' slurry mixing points. It's inside so need to be slatted. I want them handy ,safe and cheap. It's a pity I know no one here who works to a concrete company and could get them cheap....

Give him a day or 2. I’ve him lined up accidentally hit in to a few panels and get me a few cheap seconds, I’m sure he could work something for you too.

Doubt they'll be worrying too much about you z, unless your ordering a few lorry loads worth of mixing points. Seems to be a big push on round the country, with big tanks being done. Scary costs, without a grant......

Lot of money being spent at the moment mostly by milk men or those going into milk. We have a tank to do next month for a big dairy farmer and the slats/ cubicles alone are around 100k.
As the boss always says though, look after the man with the wee order and and he might come back with a bigger one.
