Northern Ireland Milk Price Tracker

I've a reseed sown on the 7th sept and it's slow. It showed on the 17th. No fert on it yet as ground was stickie. Fert this weekend. I'd say your reseed is a gamble but you could direct drill it again in the spring. Help if the field is a dry one and sheltered abit

The tillers in March figures say it all...

Experiences please - heifer aborted calf 6 weeks from due date (got hurt whilst testing in crush). Very docile but only doing couple litres morning and night.
In super condition and her mother was a super milking cow - do you think she will come up in milk or scrap her??

Milk her, I had one the same last year except she'd a rotting calf 6 weeks early so started from a worse place. Had nothing at the start, still doing 20 litres 13 months on. Is to calf again in February.

If mine did that i would be delighted - am loathed to scrap her as she is a lovely heifer.
As long as you're not tight for space and she's young I'd give her the chance, they usually improve slowly, you could find she doesn't peak for 7 or 8 months. I've found older heifers are hard to keep from getting fat & giving more problems at next calving.

Mmmmm. I'm still seeing a fair chance of it getting damp tomorrow. But nice afternoon here. A bit more heat and breeze would have been nice, but that's just being picky. :)

I've never baled third or fourth cuts to be honest. Own wagon here, so if I've got pit space I won't be paying anyone else to do it if I can help it. Miserable sod.

You mowing third or fourth?
