Northern Ireland Milk Price Tracker

You do realise that unless Europe decid to have no tariffs on milk after a no deal brexit it WILL cost 19p a litre tariff to move product ?
That’s not a scare that’s fact. So what will happen then?
It will come over the sea at great expense making spot milk worthless and prices will fall below world prices for all of us because the ability to process it all won’t be there. Bloody brilliant.
Genuinely think many haven t got a fecking clue what will happen in a no deal senecio. Going hell for leather to get rid of as much short term debt as possible before Xmas. I really worry for those who are highly leveraged for all the right reasons. They will get fecked over royally for doing nothing wrong other than have polarised idiots in charge. It’s a pathetic.
He REALLY meant it the third time;)sorry

It's not up to the EU to set the tariffs if we leave on WTO terms. If the EU set zero tariffs for the UK as a 3rd country then under WTO rules it would have to do the same for ALL other 3rd countries it trades with. It really is very worrying to hear men who have large borrowings and work massive hours and have no idea how the industry they are in works! They're just happy to be led by dishonest politicians who are following their own agenda!

As a very simple farmer I work on the basis of supply and demand. If demand goes up price goes up, supply goes up, supply exceeds demand, price comes down, supply comes down and so the cycle continues. Being a member, or not, of the EU won't make any difference to the cycle.

I think the UK is a net importer of dairy products so if we apply the same tariffs, they will at worst cancel each other out.

It's a lot more complicated than that. There are dairy goods made here specifically for export, that wouldn't have a home in the UK, and a demand for dairy products in the UK for which there is not the production capacity to meet.

That and the fact that there's not enough processing capacity in NI for at least part of the year.

I know it's got Jack to do with brexit, but I'd sure like to try to change the slurry ban. Less than three weeks and no weather forecast now . We'll be causing more pollution than ever before it, If we are lucky enough to get the ground to carry ofcourse.
