Why do you not feed more in the wagon and less in the parlour? I don’t diet feed btw
Why do you feed meal to dry cows? You make excellent, early silage, that's all that's needed. Maybe need straw to dilute the power of your silage.Cause i fèed dry cows the same ration with the feeder wagon and dont wanna giv them lots of meal and dont want to make 2 different rations cause alpt more work in that'
Ye may get on with ballymena mart and get it advertised for rent. And then go do relief milkin for cash. Ud be rakin it inBetween the sfp and renting out the farm I could make as much money as farming it. What does that say about the state of dairy farming. Mixed with weather it's a mugs game
Problem is you could get some mouth in that would tramp the guts out of your nice field drains.
We’re all in the same boat. SFP +rent+alternative job income =loadsa money. Cows are cocaine...a drug. If you’re happy don’t worry about it. I was only saying this to my wife the other day, 90% of the reason that I farm is because I love it, and 10% is because I would hate to be doing anything else or putting up with people. Then to break down the 90%, ⅔ would be a love of cows and a ⅓ would be the management and investment decisions. It can be tough, weather and being dependent on so much outside of your control, but there's no person that I know outside of farming that I'd swap careers with. We’re all in the same boat. My ideal job would be contracting. Round balein and mowin all summer, ploughin in spring/autum and cuttin hedges all winter. If i thought i could get full time work doin this id be at it but too much competition round my wayI was only saying this to my wife the other day, 90% of the reason that I farm is because I love it, and 10% is because I would hate to be doing anything else or putting up with people. That's a very valid point. Some people really fed up but this is why they don't quit. Wrong.Cows are no drug.
The perceived shame of failure and letting your neighbour farm it is the issue.
Sounds like my worst nightmare. Wet week no one wants you good week no sleep flat out.My ideal job would be contracting.
