Cause i fèed dry cows the same ration with the feeder wagon and dont wanna giv them lots of meal and dont want to make 2 different rations cause alpt more work in that'
Why do you feed meal to dry cows? You make excellent, early silage, that's all that's needed. Maybe need straw to dilute the power of your silage.

We’re all in the same boat. SFP +rent+alternative job income =loadsa money. Cows are cocaine...a drug. If you’re happy don’t worry about it. There’s more to life than money.....or cows.

I was only saying this to my wife the other day, 90% of the reason that I farm is because I love it, and 10% is because I would hate to be doing anything else or putting up with people. Then to break down the 90%, ⅔ would be a love of cows and a ⅓ would be the management and investment decisions. It can be tough, weather and being dependent on so much outside of your control, but there's no person that I know outside of farming that I'd swap careers with.

Some people who have been farming since children and never went into another career do not know how good we all get it. Obviously if you do not like it, do not be at it, but just be careful what you wish for.

My ideal job would be contracting. Round balein and mowin all summer, ploughin in spring/autum and cuttin hedges all winter. If i thought i could get full time work doin this id be at it but too much competition round my way

Do your own hedges and park it in shed it’ll do a lifetime. Cut to the country and you’ll need to change it far soo er and extra hrs on tractor. The money you got for doing the hedges will be long gone
