Baling by contractors? NeverWould there not be a stage if aiming for quality multicut (4 week intervals) silage that round bailing would be better value than owning your own kit?

Baling by contractors? Never
Cut silage end of may and around the twelfth, order some extra meal. No licking the back wall of the silo in January, another less headache. As my neighbour said...... all you boys talk about is quality before Christmas and quantity after Christmas
Well why did u not go last week? Or were u like the rest o us thinkin no way is there enough on it to cut.More cuts doesn't mean less volume. Leaving it in the field longer means slower regrowth.
On that, yin ewe is right. Should have gone last week, because it looks like it will be the latest first cut we've taken in years, by the time this weather mends.
£7/bale in a decent crop. At 3 bales/acre 8 would be more likely. £20 for mow ted rake. Then you have to park the horrible things, look at them all year knowing how horrible it is feeding them out again!Just out of interest what would you expect to pay a contractor for bailing in your area, Mow, Ted, Rake & Bale?
How many to the acre?I paid 8.50/bail last year all in, that was with clingfilm wrap too instead of net.
Plastic is up so won't be any less this year.I paid 8.50/bail last year all in, that was with clingfilm wrap too instead of net.
Good price that. Somebody giving themselves plenty of bother for little reward. 4 different machines over an acre averaged less than 8.50 a time.Averaged out at just under 4
Someone has money to burn at that price, they'll certainly be busy.I paid 8.50/bail last year all in, that was with clingfilm wrap too instead of net.
Good luck gettin thatSomeone has money to burn at that price, they'll certainly be busy.
Baling and wrapping should be £8.50 a bale for net replacement film and 4 layers with mowing, tedding and raking on top charged by the acre.
