Sorry I was meaning wages as weewilly said the costs of the robot had to be set against wages of £30 a milking, so the robot would save £2700/month as you get the benefit of 3x a day
Our electric was £1300/quarter for 1 bot, next quarter not due until March.

The wages only count if the robot means a person has been removed from the system overwhelming we there is no gain. Which seems to be the issue on many bot farms

On the electric thing, was just giving off yesterday, got the electric bill in. £8100 incl VAT for last quarter. Same quarter the year before…£4400 incl VAT

We have 2 silos 100x30 both have 12 inches of a fall in the floor.

Can't speak for other farms, but in our case it allowed me to work off farm 20hrs a week, which if I'd been spending up to 6hrs a day in the parlour would have been difficult.

Outside, just doing clay bank silos to start , moving away from bales as plastic is just getting far too expensive

Not really possible, there being dug out of a hill so the banks will be there no matter what

My Da bought a new 880 dt5 in '83, for around 15k. She was the best tractor I've ever driven, but unfortunately the worst bodywork I've ever seen.
