Yeah ours out 3 weeks now, out today and no complaints from them, kept them in tonight just so they could get some dry stuff into them but they’ll be back out tomorrow no tramping done either but they were in a dry field

Done equally as much ploughing here in the past. Don’t worry it will heal.

That depends on the weather that comes after. It probably doesn't happen so much down with you, but if it rains on off for three weeks now, which it easily can, that will just be water filled hoof holes in three weeks. Or, if the weather takes up it could be fine. 🤷🏻‍♂️ You never know. Either way, it's not going to be easy getting the tractor and spinner onto that in the next ten days.

Talking to people, I reckon there's fair complacency out there. It's a long time since people struggled with wet. Last few seasons have been accommodative, silage put past, cost of Nitrogen deterring applications. Been quite a while since we had a wet summer and ground tramped out.

2002… my neighbour sold up. Fed up with the wet summer.
2007… got married in July. Neighbours forked silage to my cows in the house on my wedding day.
2012… cows went in 8th of July. Didn’t get out again for five days and never got out at night again.
2017… shall we ever forget!?
The mathematicians among you will notice a pattern emerging.

Who's everyone banking with? Currently with HSBC but anytime dad asks to put my name on the account they make excuse that the loan agreement would need to be redone and it would cost a lot of money. They also wouldnt lend us money in the autumn for 15 acres over the hedge.

Want to get my own account opened so I can pay a bit of pension for myself and the odd bill

Tell them you're pricing around. Ask them how much and how long it would take to get it sorted. Ulster seems willing to lend, Barclays are competitive. Both show an interest in farmers, some others are looking rid of farmers.
