How do your crops look ?
Ok very wet underfoot though, the rape would cut if the ground would soak tbe beans would be off the scale moisture wise probably have to crimp them after acid treatment . Only ten acres of rape and seven of beans so not going to break the bank . 15 acres of maize which is very tall survived the storm intact but getting it cut is not looking easy with ground conditions. The heavy pudding land which usually goes into continous wheat is saturated and the break crops not harvested not looking good for wheat here unless their is a dramatic improvement in the weather . Cows stayed in today loads of grass but the ground is to wet at the moment to graze. Had them grazing by day last Feb and even out for a week in janaury. Looks like i am paying for it now !!!!

I've missed sowing next year's bedding crop WB. It'll have to do as SB. Don't really want WW as I want to sow them out after harvest, and it's a bit late. So plan is probably undersow, plenty of barley seed on it to keep the grass down out of the straw, but not too much nitrogen.?

Or, if it's a very nice April I might just sow them out and plough something else for straight barley!

We sowed grass seed on potato beds on 17th April this year, cut along with 2nd cut at the start of July and then along with 3rd, has had spring born calves on it since. Wouldn't be mild enough to sow in April every year though, at least not in the foothills of Slemish.
