So who has received feedback from higher up the food chain on Boris's latest offering? (And I'm not talking about the tanker driver).

Regulatory union, but not customs union. Presume this means that goods that cross the border still have tariffs applied, though they will be legal on standards conformity. This would still appear to kill a lot of the cross border trade that occurs now, depending on what tariffs are applied.

Yes but Thentransition period would allow time for a free trade deal to be done. Apparently.

@lazy farmer yes it's absolutely essential that the UK reciprocates with tariffs. And no matter what the current plan for tariffs is, if the EU puts up the wall, I'd fully expect Boris to respond to that. It will be in his interest to have his own wall for the EU to want taken down.

As for NI products with a home grown market. Can't speak for other companies, but yes Dale Farm would be reasonable in that regard. Whey I think is one that goes abroad, and as you'd know it's very important in the cheese stream...

It won’t happen no government can counternace food inflation. Especially when it could be seen as their fault. We will be thrown under the bus and have to plan Accordingly. The naïveté of my industry on this subject astounds me.

The farmers union has only woke up recently, sat on the fence for 2 years, when boris said do or die he meant it,so as for the dairy industry as it stands its die. What did Cummings say,

Indeed many mainland politicians/ advisers etc have little time for NI. What's the alternative? Where will Leo get billions to keep us in the manner we've become accustomed to?
Milk was 17p a few years ago, dozens of men were in diffs and were going to be sold by the bank, how many do you know actually had to sell? I only know of one and he just wouldn't stop spending.

I find it hard to believe that the media focus on NI dairy but the sheep industry hardly gets a mention which will be crippled even more. Boris can either help us by applying stiffer tariffs on ROI produce or can prop us up for a short while til things level out. Wasn't that long ago since we had the milk reduction scheme. I availed of it and would again if the option was there.
