is the bonus paid on all litres or just litres over a daily litreage ? the spring deductions will work in reverse I presume ?

Paid on all litres, no spring deductions...........................yet, deductions for 9/10 months of the year to pay for the bonus. Bonus maybe not the best way to describe it as that implies extra money and it certainly ain't that.

Exactly.the "bonus" is only our money that they have saved up over the year off base price and they choose to give it to us in those months.

That's right, and nobody has ever tried to hide that fact. It's not a conspiracy. It's a deliberate channelling of money to the autumn to keep milk coming in then for the contracts and the factory. They've told us that's why it's being done.

Dairy trade strong in bmena today, wheres the money coming from

I think you know where...

Auld boy said trade was good, still some SFP kicking about maybe and a taste more to come in a fortnights time.

Still waiting for mine. I'm one of the 1% apparently.?. Oh well. It'll appear at some stage.

A right heifer will give 6000l
@25p=£1500
Minus 2t of meal=£480
Minus 1acre of silage/grass=£250?
Margin over feed =£770

Last Dungannon sale average 1790 GN=£1890. So it will take nearly three years to break even. And don't forget pedigree heifers have a habit of not going in calf or doing the splits.
Feel free to pick holes.

You can't put a price on hunting the nicest looking heifer into your box at a mart while other farmers look on!

I do mean it. I can’t figure out how it’s done.

Without going into your own sum, because I'm not sure where you get your margin - but...

NI Agriculture sector net income in 2018 was reported to be £360M. 2019 EU sub totals £320M. Given the weighting of dairy in the sector, and the drop in milk price, it's not difficult to imagine it will be worse looking this year. Wouldn't be the first year that the sub funded sector losses.

Sold 3 yesterday for a loss, they weren't worth keeping and would never breed you anything worth milking in the future.2 for the chop Every heifer is not a winner, not a numbers game, money work equation

What does is cost you to rear a heifer? Maybe that’s bold asking that....
