Current choice if I recall is three from AI services, one from genus. They have actually tested performance of these on their farms and want these sires.

At the crux of this is the matter of Holstein bull calves, and their early demise in some cases. Whether or not this scheme would work for you is one thing, but the executive and the board have obviously decided it's right for Dale Farm to be proactive in creating this opportunity, so that it's there when the big retailers inevitably ask.

I presume they've spoken to Ai Services and Genus to secure stock of the chosen bulls......?

OK, if you have spare accommodation. What beef sires are most folk using? Presumably almost all now using sexed dairy on a % then beef on the rest.......

Triple mix blue, but only on a small number of stragglers. Very little sexed used so plenty of Holstein bulls about, all kept and finished at 28/29 months. Need more housing and ground, but it is available and if we didn't keep the bullocks we'd have to keep more cows and that would be bad for all of us!!!!

Why would you need more cows?
