If you're in beef use a beef bull,if you're in dairy use a dairy bull,anything else is a waste of time in my opinion, if you want the wee girls you have to take the wee boys,its as simple as that

I've used ai 3 times since 1988,stock bulls, keep all heifers,calve them, keep the best,market for the rest,I've been doing this for nearly 30 years, works for me,

Certainly not but I like the easy option,let the bull do the work, I'm not sitting in the tractor watching for cows on season, afterall the bull was ai bred,good enough for me

Parlour went nearly 8 years ago to make room for a proper milking machine ?.
It's the opposite actually, dad would let all the bull calves go but I like to keep them, gives you a bit of cash when you need a new toy. Whether they leave any profit..................

Triple mix blue, but only on a small number of stragglers. Very little sexed used so plenty of Holstein bulls about, all kept and finished at 28/29 months. Need more housing and ground, but it is available and if we didn't keep the bullocks we'd have to keep more cows and that would be bad for all of us!!!!

Usually do 2 summers at grass on rough grazing, with little meal until 25/26 months then basically ad lib until ready to go. Wouldn't be doing it if we didn't have the shed and the grazing. I wouldn't be going to build a new beef unit- even with cheap slats!

Not sure I admitted either of those. They wipe their faces clean and leave a bit forby. Whoever buys them at 3 weeks old would be looking to make a profit, we just cut out the middle men.
