Northern Ireland Milk Price Tracker

Heifer last year, lost a quarter. Teat went weepy and scabby, then couldn’t be milked, vet eventually cut it off to let the puss out of udder.
Just calved today and another teat is very similar looking. Couldn’t get it milked tonight. Just weepy like a burn wound looks like. Any suggestions what to do. Used every cream imaginable last time. Don’t think she is licking it but can’t be sure. Has nose ring in.

Have one who calved with a blind teat as a heifer, got her back in calf but she took mastitis shortly after calving, doing 25l on 2 barrels and I'm seriously tempted to ai her again!

We had a similar thing on a few heifers years ago, started with blisters which burst then turned slowly into a thick black scab which destroyed the teat, turned out to be a herpes virus and only thing that worked was sovirax for cold sores(£5 for very small tube) but worked very well on the blister phase
