The cows are grazing silage ground, 5 weeks regrowth & stronger than ideal, buffer feeding as well. The heifers are getting silage in the field too.

Really going to miss the cubs when they go back to school. They bring in the cows . One is now tall enough to reach the milk meter so can drop cluster and attach. The other lad is in charge of teat dip and getting cows out ASAP...far less dung in the parlour. Take it in turns to either scrape down or hose. Return cows to field. After 8 years of working completely solo(Dad took sick in 2012) the enjoyment of milking/every day work is unbelievable when you have company.
Some positives from lockdown but the work is still to do. No furloughed money here. Local haulier cant get drivers. They're happy doing nothing getting 80%of their wages.
Too many farm deaths . Watch yourselves

Are you not applying for this self employed grant? Average your earnings for previous 3 years and then give you equiv of 3 months profit, max £7k grant.
Just remembered, profit has to be less than £50k..so you're out! I'm in 3 way partnership .

I think the grass hasn't taken up the application from 2 weeks ago at all, lower lying ground has greened a little in the last few days, the drier bits not so much.

Sowed fert on grazing ground on the 21st and then sowed more ground on the 29th here, the stuff sowed on the 21st got 8mm rain that night afterwards, the other sowed on the 29th didn’t get much. World of difference in covers between the two lots now.
