You may take that matter up with the nutritionalist who spoke at a public meeting

1990's price doesn't go far, that's the bit I've figured out. Getting by is the ambition now.

Talking too suckler farmers who converted too milk within last five years in regards too price are more than happy. Talking about profits off £700 - £1000/cow have been common last few years. All 100-150 cow men. If milk rose 10p I fear too think where these men would stop in terms off production.

Yes but they dont get a level supply do they? Coming into the autumn most will dry a fair percentage of cows off, and with lower volumes being collected on farms the co-op pays out a decent price been doing it for years. But struggle to pay top dollar when in national peak supply around May time.

Most who have converted round here would also have the benefit of fairly large sfp to fall back on.

Wont be long til DF pay their seasonal high price, they usually wait til to a large proportion of cows are dried off and then give themselves a pat on the back, big price on a low volume.
Smoke and mirrors eh ? But if DF are running a penny a litre behind Lakeland on a large supply it soon adds up . Wont be long before people start voting with their feet and switching that is unless lake land have a " closed shop " agreement with Dale farm where the dont recruit one anothers suppliers .
We are a small island and every Milk processor operates in the same market money talks and bullshite walks so Dale farm better buck up . Their prior outfit united dairies spent years languising at the bottom paying the worst price in europe until the exodus of suppliers forced a rethink . Lakelands and Aurivo would have little problem carving up the Dale farm business if the opportunity arose .
Its up to the farmer board members to make sure that a competive milk price is paid no excuses .
