Almost, but not quite! I presume you mean the price after bonuses are added on? Not base price?

That’s just the sort of negative attitude that is stopping you from being the first man to cut silage in County Antrim

That’s just the sort of negative attitude that is stopping you from being the first man to cut silage in County Antrim

Some times it seems like a status symbol to be fit to say i was the first job the contractor lifted this year. Dont worry il never hold that title

Part of my milk is on the fixed price scheme with Dale Farm. The 29ppl meant I didn't get over the 40p. Think Dale Farm are gonna have to do something about these fixed price contracts. Exceptional circumstances would have to mean things are relooked at. Next month It will be 26ppl fixed price vrs 40ppl+

Nobody should have been in it to start with, the co-op should be delivering the best price possible to all members. If they want to fix a price with a customer then everyone should lose/benefit the same. It would be different if it was for 50+% of their milk pool and needed guarantees for supply but for 10% or less? Not necessary. Was only ever going to lead to someone loosing out. If milk went way down the ones not fixed would be cut to supplement the need to pay 29p to the fixed. Or the current situation where fixed is loosing.

Not the point. You sign up based on normal market circumstances. These are abnormal times. There's plenty of business' out there who will have been on fixed price contracts with supermarkets. If they were to continue to fulfill these obligations they would simply go out of business and the supermarket would have to look elsewhere and at today's prices .

It will but will probably have to wait at least 6 months before they start considering this

Imo if u signed the fixed contract u have to take the rough with the smooth. If the price had dropped ud still have expected them to pay the agreed price so likewise when the price rises u have to accept that your gonna have to give the milk at the agreed price. Thats why its called a fixed price contract

From what I'm told that's not the way it works. The fixed price scheme is an agreed amount of product delivered over 3 years at a fixed price to the customer. The amount of product in the scheme depends on the amount of milk contracted to it, there is no crossover of money into or out of the scheme from the general milk pool. As regards changes to the scheme I would think it very unlikely.
