Yes silage ground has stalled and cow grazing isn't coming back after it's grazed. Great weather but always a sharp air, don't like to say it but it'll take some rain to bring proper heat.
I thought it was only me that couldn’t grow grass. Due to start 2nd round in 8 days and there’s not much there. Things can change dramatically in a week.
cows still in at night.

Any I've seen, swards are thick and heavier than they look. Some years are like that, don't be risking blocking the mower @yin ewe 😉

Organic swards here this year so not likely to block the mower.
Don't think you'll block the harvester where you're lifting today, good job it's a 50' row😀.
Looked as good as any year to be fair.

Dropped 1st cut here today. Happy enough with the crop tbh. Only got slurry and 1 bag off fertilizer. Get abit off slurry on and rain next week it should take off again.

Did you give them a wee lick of meal? Do they eat grass/ silage?
There's the problem. Today's bullocks at 1200 will leave money. Next year's might not.

No difference from the risk you take any year, milk at 40p today might leave money but will it be any use in 6 months time?
The way I look at it the boy buying them out of Ballymena at a fiver is trying to make money and I ain't making much at a fiver, so I'll take the chance.

Added bonus is you know your calf is healthy. I wouldn't be rushing out and buying a pile of the wee £5 calves. Dungannon yesterday the reasonable fres bull around £30
