I guess the authorities were covering themselves after seeing the south call the red alert. But to have all schools off today is ridiculous. Surely they could have worked it on a school by school basis if the power was off, similar to when snow falls. It was windy here, but it's been worse. One man here had the cap blew off his head. He's OK.
So windy up here it blew all the hair off my head!

Sorry you guys took a hit. I did see a chart on Sunday of the path giving the SE coast getting it coming up the Irish sea. Kilkeel would have been rough.

Went to a funeral on my way home from Cookstown yesterday. Standing at the graveside at about 1530. Very little sign of broken branches here, despite beech and sycamore still well in leaf.

We lost power for three hours at the house on Sunday evening, and not a flicker yesterday.:scratchhead:

Anyone see BBC news about the slurry ban. I know it's a serious problem this year but it's a serious problem within agriculture. Now joe public knows we aren't supposed to spread until February. Soon as they see the tanker out they will be on the phone to the NIEA to make our lives hell.
Sometimes better to shut up, kept the head down and try to plough through best as possible.
BTW not sure how to post link but read comments on article on BBC website to see what public thinks of us.

We're just a PITA to joe public, and I saw it in the attitude of several non farming neighbours last week.

Does any of them make the connection between what we do, and the fact they've got a fridge full of fresh food? I seriously doubt it. IMO, society in this country is on it's ass.

Had my niea inspection. Didn't export slurry 2016. No paperwork submitted. They knew before they came. Breach. 3% sfp same as polluting a river. Hardly the same

All about the paperwork, you can bluff most stuff around the yard one way or another.
So you'll have 97k sfp this year?
