I'd put them out but I'm worried about next week's weather. Good silage hard to find so will be forced out soon. I can see them out at night soon after they go out by day

Yes forecast for next two weeks is poor and the ground is tender. My good silage is ate and what's left the young stock will red up. Might bring grass in to them if it turns wet.

1st cut in. 18 bales off 9 acres. Taking the old grass off. Will they eat it....looks like nice hay but I've a feeling they won't be happy. Update later

After the last 9 months of bad weather, I think il keep 10% less cows and clamp a bit more silage, overstocking seems to be 1 step forward and 2 steps back.

i like your thinking but have to admit this past while thiking 100% less would have been the job. i can work with bad prices far better than bad weather..... grand mornin all the same.

We generally try to have a good surplus of silage each year. It's going to be very little if lucky this year. First cut won't be great bulk wise. What do you do? I've a lot of heifer calves this year hopefully a good reason to get shot of a lot of tailenders!

Define tailenders. To me they keep the summer milk going especially in Aug Sept. My biggest cheque this year was oct
And that's all down to lack of management and summer calvers

Would have loved to but was on the Ai run this morning then 'trying' to roll silage ground this afternoon. Also had contractors in drilling Wheat.

don't know much about LP.can some of their supliers tell me what kind of product mix they do?all i know is they spent a ball of money on a shiny big dryer. in short im asking as a dale farm producer/shareholder is this merger/takeover good for dale farm?

Personally cant see how it would add anything to DFs business, other than increase our milk pool which the 'right honourable our holiness and highness Nick' seems intent on doing. DF already has a full portfolio of products including a state of the art drier, so why would we want to produce more powder?
