Wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself, but dribble bar spread slurry looks to me to be much more rain fast than plate. Especially if it got a day or two to skin. To be honest I'm glad I went on ahead.

Same. Had it on a few days before the weather broke, can see it taking effect already. Hard to beat the early slurry.

Grass was still green here through the winter anyway, with a bit of growth on it. If some of had got much more grass on it, slurry would have ended up a no no. I went in front with urea as I just hate putting a wheel back on slurried ground. There definitely was a small spell at end of January would have done for spreading, though the day length is really against you.

Grass has stayed very green all winter especially if it got autumn slurry. Kept the white vermin off this winter. Got 25 loads out while waiting on contractor but he didn't come in time. Good or bad I will know later and yes early slurry on dry ground works wonders everytime

Dry ground? What is this phenomenon of which you speak? Are you some kind of sorcerer?

If it took 25 loads to do the bit at the gate what size is the field. Come to n Antrim and we'll show yous how to farm

I'll climb into the boat after reading up in the morning and be over before too long. Where's the nearest jetty to you?

How bout u come down to the Clogher Valley till I show you how wet the gaps are!

What do you do with the fields stones over there, or do you leave them for the harvester to gather up?

New electricity line going across this area. Last couple of weeks they've been building roads across fields here to take cranes and articulated lorries in to build towers and bury very large cables. When they scraped the top off it was a dry as snuff underneath. It's the top two inches of muck that's the biggest challenge.

Current outlook from the charts is a high sitting over the Azores, continuing to direct lows over us. It appears to inch it's way eastward next week as far as Spain, and then with the hint of it pushing up north towards us by the weekend. We'll have to see how that unfolds.
