Stay pure.
Have you tried the reds the few crosses i have are hardy looking animals black hooves and there sires have higher milk , fertility and health traits than bf.What does concern me is despite all the figures some have poorly shaped feet low foot angle straight leg and some have extra teats which would suggest a level of inbreeding in the sires.

Few years ago I had a week touring farms in Norway.
We have not used any Norwegion Reds !!
Nothing beats going on to farms in these countries that are trying to sell their wonderful genetics to see for yourself.
How are the bulling heifers bred?
Alot go back to blackisle glenalbyn was trying to pick a bf bull to suit them all but cant find a good bull i like which is not related to some.Just will have to buy a few different bulls.

I guess GA would be far enough back not to be a problem? Very few AI bulls have him closer than Gran sire.
More likely to have to avoid deangate Centurion or marshside Rocket, both bulls having produced a shed load of good sons, Chad, Jingle etc.

I had a Fleckvieh calf off a brownswiss cow with spare teats I was told inbreeding can cause spare teats but over years of farming it’s natural for some too have spare teats in my opinion , or are spare teats a sign of inbreeding?

We've had lots of spare tests on crossbred calves so I wouldn't say it was due to inbreeding. I don't see them as a problem anyway, I turn every calf over when it's disbudded to check the teats. It's good incentive to disbud at a young age!

We have crossed our Freisians to Norwegian red. The oldest ones calved this past January. They all calved before 24 months of age and are milking well, nearly 25 kg at 4.5/3.6. Feet are fine so far. The Freisians were getting too big and heavy for us, and too fat. No complaints about the Reds, and we continue to use them.

we have a few braut daughters, good cows, perhaps a bit to milky for hard grazing, we will use him again now, needed a new tank, surprising what was floating around in the old one ! We didn't empty it, so was properly done, even found some sexed Gaby' Arrow, USA jersey, trouble is, we have no idea of how many, it's just going to be 'pot luck'
