That was just before her first milking two months ago after calving at grass, hence the Green dung on her rear udder, and the wet soil up both rear legs (if your screen resolution is good enough you'll see it). Thought someone would point it out. Pretty decent looking first calver was what I saw in her.

Wasn’t a dig thought it wasn’t your usual standard, how has she developed?

That leaves the jersey, and around 50% of our cows are either pure or x, they are very good cows, who adapt to different systems, extremely well, but, calves and culls, heard yesterday, of 4 jer culls to abattoir, cheque £364, takes a bit of chewing !!!

Where did you send them? Got more than that for johnes Jerseys which weighed feck all?

No worries ?. I've developed a reasonable hide. ?

Milking nice and steady. 53 days now. 32 litres and still climbing slowly. Simple block silage and cake in the milker.

The back ends a lot tidier now that she's off the pea soup and lying on clean cubicles. And a shorter tail.?

thankfully they were not ours, but did send a prime johnes on in july, that came back at £85, with lesions !!best one, march 18 £840. but usually they are around £225, fr's are better. Interestingly, the fieldsman reckons av price of cull holstiens is only around £300, that's if you factor every cow in, we are all very good talking about the good ones, conveniently forgetting the crap ones ! and he sources a lot of cattle every week, for 1 abattoir.

My Hojem daughter just upped her game, currently touching 70 litres a day.
I would love to be able to clone her!

She is, do like a red red, mine are black, thanks for all the input, most apologise for not responding for a day or two, the kids bread up one of those germ warfare standard tummy bugs.
Thank god for volume washers

It is thrilling but i doubt it will end in any higher lifetime production than your average cow.
I had one do 84 litres once. she didn't get past 100 days in her 4th.
50/55L tops is more than enough for me these days. i'm over chasing litres.

My Easiest to manage cows here and probably most profitable are the ones that sit at 40-45litres for most of their lactation.
