No such thing as over engineeredNothing to taxing there. After having years of trying to stick rusty metal together. I found a new bit it was like Christmas and so much easier.
A few years back we built a shed frame and a 16 tonne grain trailer I hadnt done alot of welding before but got the hang of it by the end.
Now there is always something a dropped off outside the workshop by neighbours to be welded back together.
My problem is I over engineer everything.
Wall bolts not big enough for the holes. Repair washers used. Tut tut
Washers? I was just trying to think what make of mower uses round bladesWall bolts not big enough for the holes. Repair washers used. Tut tut

I'm impressed. Welcome in engineering thread anytimeThought this was ideal for this thread, wouldn't fit in the bodge thread really as there is a new bolt used, the steel isn't secondhand and there was no way to off set this with baler twine or bent nails and the like! Only used a drill, grinder and the welder so could quite justify the engineering thread
Had a couple of Rams to re-seal today , needed a pin spanner, didn't have anything suitable, TBH I meant to get one but forgot! So cobbled together this, worked a treat another job jobbed and another tool for the homemade tool drawerView attachment 372752 View attachment 372750 View attachment 372748
The qualification criteria isn't strict. Thanks guys , it did make it easy, they weren't tight TBH , not very well re-assembled when I had new rods put in them. So I knew they had to be as tight as I could get em this time
Thanks for the invite @Dave W , I think I have suitable projects in the pipeline to make a contribution at some point
Or I could drag out some pics of old projects..........?

No bale string. No hammers bigger than they need to be and measurements taken in dimensions more accurate than thumb widths
I put one inside the tool box to stop dad moving my tractor, he was convinced it had a dud battery, I think he even tried charging itView attachment 363004 View attachment 363006 put a dead man switch on the 35 no more spannering battery terminals.
How the #### do you know my dad?A mate of mine got so pee'd off with his dad farting about on the quad, peeping the horn any time he wanted something done, he wedged a piece of chewing gum in the horn. Next thing he knew the mechanics van was in and a new horn installed! Cost him £120!!!
