Built this portable sheep race last summer to go behind a tractor to work with sheep in a few locations we have away from the farm. Made it so that its all universally interlocking with existing galvanised gates. One section is fixed to the frame with another removable one which sits in 2 hooks at the base of the other. It can be fitted to either end and sits on the chequer plate when in transport fastened by pins and chains. Both race sections have a full steel chequer plate floor in to help in wet conditions. There are 2 gates which fit universally anywhere and can be flipped to open to either side. Each section is 8ft to give a 16ft race with a sub 9ft transport width. When traveling the galvanised gates can be placed within the race to transport as a complete unit. Going to make a few addons such as a shedding gate so that its even more versatile. Although its not as light or quite as quick to transport as a purpose built one, it came in at a fraction of the cost even with all new steel and is built strong enough to last.

On that theme has anyone made racks for holding and moving around and stacking sheep hurdles? I would like to be able to tidy them up after lambing rather than currently stacked in corners :( , all ideas welcolm.

Just an idea if you have any pallets lying around, suppose you could maybe build some sort of barrier round the pallet whether that is with wood or metal, and then you could pick them up with your loader and move them around? Just an idea though might not be practical just a thought although I'll have a look on Facebook and google to see if I can find any designs and I'll pop back over with a picture (y)

what about making simple brackets and mounting them up on a wall off the ground but still within arms reach, just two pegs for each hurdle so you could stack between ten and twenty a time, make up a few sets of brackets and it should keep all tidy, or mount them outside for their not going to rust.

It's for cattle hurdles but this is ours. One length of big box and some offcuts of smaller. The big box is big enough to get pallet tines in to move around easy.
