parrot ministers when challenged about the mess they make.

Probably because they are systematically destroying records, such as those on the Turkish PPE fiasco.

And you would have done better how?

Siphoning a bit of cash off to his mates?
"Meanwhile campaigners are seeking a judicial review into why a pest control company with no experience of producing PPE and assets of just £19k was granted a £108 million PPE contract. It doesn't appear, at first glance, that Chris Grayling was involved". RussInCheshire

I don't enjoy answering a question with a question, but perhaps you could explain why systematic destruction of recent official records is a good thing.
If you have nothing to fear, you have nothing to hide. (And to save my having to explain again, I cannot/dare not use my real name as one of my clients would sack me like a shot - even though face to face I tell them exactly how I feel.

Who is destroying records ? Surely if its known then destroying records is pointless, why is the Turkish ppe issue the government's fault, they needed more ppe and were told there was some available when it was checked it was found to be sub standard ie the supplier lied, if you sell Tesco beef and its found to be lamb is that Tesco's fault ?

The government has been consistently destroying records at least since the 1960s right up to today (viz. Turkish ppe procurement)
Why? It is even easier to deny when there is no written record (though Bunter’s government is quite happy to deny even the nose on his smirking face)
and there are so many (perhaps you also fall into this group) happy to forgive the government for anything and everything

That's rather different then, I thought you meant that this was something new that was almost unheard of.
Not saying I disagree with you about the practice but if it's been happening consistently for 50 plus years it's not such a big deal.

Smells like rotten corruption right in centre of government / establishment.
And you know, Brexit was to have brought Britain, far away from EU corruption, to the sunny straight dealing uplands of freedom and independence.
But I’m sure, someone somewhere in the inner circle has a copy of stuff important people wouldn’t want them to have. Perfect bargaining chip don’t you think, for future progression in life.

Sorry? Not such a big deal when it has been happening and continues to today. Is that in itself not a good enough Reason to call it out?
That’s how we do things around here. And any serious dissent gets offered a knighthood.

At least there will only be one set of rotten scoundrels to have to deal with, expensive job when you have to double up on the rascals.

I think perhaps the point was why now if the practice has been going on for 50 years?
Why was it not focused on during the Blair years for example?
Or any other PM?
Could it be that there is a particular vendetta against the current PM and his team?
So many questions aren't there?

Thanks, this saves me replying and explained my point better than I could.
