Nroso - a joke

Which one did you go to? My lads are going to the CMP one at the Langton Arms at the end of the month. Lunch provided.
One in Wiltshire at the beginning of the month.
I enjoy them. Bit of food, few coffees, bit of a chat. Makes a change from usual January morning at work.
I learnt at lot from them and been reminded of things that I perhaps have let slip over time.
Just seems a shame that they have a captive audience, who are there to get their 10 points, seems a great opportunity to really educate and re-educate spray operators and farmers. Knapsack maintenance and calibration is just such a waste of an opportunity.

@Brisel I will see your chaps there as I am giving that workshop with Tristan!

Unfortunately our (the trainers') hands are somewhat tied with regards to the content of the course. We have to give the entire presentation, with little room for manoeuvre. When we go through the presentation ourselves, we try to change/hide slides if they are confusing, to try and make sure everyone understands what we are putting up!

Nroso do send out their own people to inspect many of the courses being given, to ensure they are being delivered as they were designed. As trainers we try our best to add a little flair along the way. No matter how uninspiring the content, if people are nodding off or completely spaced out then we are doing a poor job!

Unless you are on square fields you will still spray the headland while coming into land at the ends.
So still be running on sprayed ground when completing the headland run.

Not that I would ever spray the headland first :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I spent a evening with the lovely lady that runs NROSO last week - I mentioned this thread and that many felt the courses were a waste of time / money

They want them to be useful and good so she clearly was not happy to hear the feedback but pointed out unless people let them know they don't know there is a problem !

So best thing you can all do if you go on a course and feel it was a rip off or you learnt nothing is call or email NROSO and let them know, That way they can do sometime positive about it and make changes

There has been a feedback form issued to all participants at the end of every annual course for as long as I can remember.

As courses go I don't find them too bad. Yes, a lot of it is stuff you already know about but usually come away having learnt something new/useful.

How honest are you though when you know the assessor will read it ?

Anyone with an issue should just email NROSO - I know they would like the additional feedback and chance to make the courses and points collecting better and more relevant, They certainly don't set out to waste time or leave people feeling ripped offf which is the jist of many complaints in this thread

Having been on some pointless courses in the past myself and paying out to send my operators on them now I want to see CPD become a useful thing not just a box ticking excersise

I have a neighbour who refuses to be a nroso member because it's a registered charity and it's against his "beliefs" that's what he told the farm assurance

Not the person delivering it's fault if you feel it not relevant.

I disagree - who else's fault is it other than those running the course ? They are being paid to educate, if they don't then they have failed and wasted everyones time and money

If we want to improve our industry we have to complain to those in power when we are not happy, Pointless complaining to the minion running the course or whinging on a farming forum, email or call NROSO and let them know so they can act

TBH, Brian Poulson who ran our coarse was very good. He edited the slides/book etc as some of it didn't even make sense to him. He's a sprayer operator himself.

He doesn't believe the update should command 10 points either.
