The odd show, LAMMA for example. The occasional farm walk. 2 on here per year, and 3 per year for sprayer test. Occasionally do a 10 pointer, but generally have to pay for that! New website Eoperator or something like that. You can do some online courses.

Half day course run by your local spray supplier keeps you updated with all the latest rules n regs, learn a few bits n bobs off others on the course and normally get lunch as well. Oh and it gets you the full 10 points you need each year, no faffing about getting 2 here,3there and a couple somewhere else and still panicking when your year is up and you haven’t got enough [emoji849]

Although it gets a bit of stick I have got to agree it's not an expensive way to keep up to date and normally a good natter, some times meet other TFF posters too.

I suspect there are hundreds of members who, like me, haven't bothered to collect enough points, and are now scratching round for a few as our membership has been suspended.
When is all this pointless drivel going to get kicked into touch?

You can get points for agronomist meetings, ask your rep for details.
points for sprayer MOT attendance ,copy and send papers to NROSO.
Every time you go to an event LLAMA,Wynnstay open event, Cereals, and the like points are available.

Be aware that they have purposely made it more difficult, by not allowing you to submit all 3 years worth of stuff like agronomist meetings, for eg, in one hit. You now have to send in record of the individual meetings within 3 months of them happening.
You have to wonder who was behind that change, and why.

Probably because a lot leave it till the last minute then managed to conger up 3 years of points from back dated meetings etc.

Personally I find it very easy to get points, 4 from the Agronomist, 6 from cereals by doing the knowledge trail, 1 or 2 for ahdb monitor Farm meetings, lama, NFU crops board meetings, 2 from tff, the list goes on.
I know they’ve tightened up how many you get for various things but it was a little too easy really! Try been a nurse and getting continued development points, then you would have something to moan about!!!

I have recently had notice of suspension from NROSO as I was 2 points short the 30 required over a 3 year period. Getting the points was not a big problem, i did an ARTIS training online course which gave me the 2 points it cost a few quid but did brush up my OSR knowledge which is no bad thing.

The point of the post is that I was given 45 days to get the points but if I failed I would have been suspended from Noroso and therefore my farm assurance with re-application not allowed for 12 months. I suspect I am like many farms, I am the only one here licensed to spray so by the letter of the rules failure to comply would have meant getting a contractor in for 12 months. This does seem an over reaction and certainly something that makes life unnecessarily difficult for small farmers.

Just be careful and make sure you get the points.

Protection racket.
You have a PA1/PA2 qualification and are therefore legal to spray.
Your machine is tested annually, which is twice in three years more than the law requires, as I understand it.
The rest is gold-plating, and a money making scheme from which we see no return.
