I had an email today, informing me how many points I need to get in the next 12 months.
Considering we’ve been in the pandemic since March, and some of us have also been shielding, with no events, field trials or even close contact with agronomists . Don’t you think they would’ve rolled things over for another year.
Another money grabbing monopoly , only interested in filling their coffers.

I’ve been trying to watch webinars which attract Nroso points, such as hosted by AHDB. I looked up my cpd statement today and none of them have been added to my tally. If this is going to be the case then we have to given a year’s grace.
I've had exactly the same issue. Was several points short a few weeks ago and took the Cereals webinar quizzes but the points never made it to NROSO and my membership has just been cancelled!

Don't get me started with this shower of ????
Been excluded as not enough points.
How the hell can you get points ???
Yes I know ,shows, sprayer tests, Webinairs (joke that fiasco on here that was???) TFF membership , a few online BUY course sites , meetings ( ok if like in Arable areas in East possibly???) etc etc but they should have just by passed this year and be understanding in these unprecedented and pandemic times, with everything cancelled ,instead exclude and ban for a few years????

Well I’m going to be suspended from RT if I don’t get my sprayer tested within 28 days. Never mind I am mid way through fitting a new pump which has different baseplate to original. Never mind I won’t be using it for two months. Never mind the grain I am selling at the moment was produced while it’s test was valid. Never mind I don’t want to waste antifreeze. Never mind we are in Tier 3 here with one of the worst case rates in the country or that we are coming up to the holiday season. Never mind I’m a chartered engineer who read fluid mechanics before the tester was born. Never mind the legal requirement is to test only once in three years on my acreage, not annually which they insist on and have gold plated. None of this counts for anything unless you’ve paid £250 for a youth with a van to go through the motions with a dodgy pressure gauge, loosening joints and disturbing seals as he goes.
These jokers really are the limit. Nothing to do with my inspector either. He’s a decent bloke but he’s monitored from on high and has no leeway. Anyway moves are a foot to sell all mine non assured then I won’t need these parasites. It’s just a rip off. A job creation scheme.

I’ve sent them an angry email. Not as I think it’ll do much good.
when I checked, they had failed to add my points for attending the sprayer test .
Its just another racket

Subscribing to Potash news gets a couple of points a year if anyone’s desperate.
The likes of Red tractor assurance , NRoSo and sprayer MOTs, are the most depressing part of farming, and must affect mental health more than bad weather or low prices.
My old uncle, Cambridge educated, degree in agriculture, been spraying all his life and experimenting before the lecturer was born was attending one of these CPD meetings, turned round in his seat and said to me, “Isn’t this just the very thing that has sucked all the joy out of farming.” Those who weren’t snoring wholeheartedly agreed with him. How right he was. They take us for straw chewing fools but I’d assert that nobody who is still in the farming business today is so ignorant that they need this kind of Mickey Mouse annual training on a compulsory basis. Assurance may have started with the best of intentions but it’s grown into an industry in its own right that needs to perpetually grow and feed itself at our expense. That’s the problem. And the money can only come off our bottom line.
They need to rein it massively IMO or they’ll lose all credibility and they’ll lose good people from the industry for no reason at all.

I was also going to be suspended for refusing to have the fert spinner tested every year, inspector was adamant it had to be, it doesn’t. I won’t pay to have it done every year when the tester turns up, spends half hour if I’m lucky ‘testing’ the spreader the buggers off as quickly as possible. Once every other year is plenty.
