The National Sheep Association’s (NSA) Sheep Event, which takes place later this month, is set to be “an ideal day out” for anyone involved in the UK sheep industry, organisers have said.
The event will take place at its usual venue – the Three Counties Showground, Worcestershire – on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
NSA Sheep Event is set to feature an array of seminars, interactive workshops, more than 250 trade and breed society stands, as well as demonstrations and competitions.
For the first time in several years, the event is taking place during the school summer holidays, so it will also include additional attractions for children such as competitions and a mini tractor school.
Warwickshire sheep farmer and chair of the NSA Sheep Event 2024 event, Ant Spencer, said: “There is no better show to demonstrate and celebrate all that is great about the British sheep industry.
“It really is a great opportunity to have a day off the farm to get up to date with the latest news and innovations, and even better catch up with farming friends.”
The NSA said the event seminar tent will facilitate many insightful discussions as its speaker prepare to cover topical issues from business reform to market and trade opportunities.
The seminar line up also features the launch of the highly anticipated NSA Sustainability Report, produced in conjunction with Harper Adams.
One of the featured seminars will be the first ever NSA Breakfast Club Live – a live-streamed discussion that will be one of the first opportunities since the General Election to hear from key political party representatives on their plans for future agricultural policy.
As it is anticipated the Breakfast Club will be popular, visitors are invited to register in advance of the event to secure their seat in the session.
Those registering before the event on the Sheep Event website will also be provided with a breakfast roll.
Attendees wishing to make more of a visit to the event can also sign up to join the pre-event farm tours taking place on Monday, July 29, in conjunction with Field Farm Tours.
“The tour will visit two different farming operations in the neighbouring county to the event, Herefordshire, allowing visitors to view a progressive enterprise working on regenerative principles with its flock of Romney cross ewes and a pedigree Hereford cattle herd and a mixed farming operation switching to wool shedding sheep that promotes efficient data recording for improved flock performance,” the NSA said.
“Other features not to be missed at NSA Sheep Event 2024 include the ever popular cookery theatre, shearing competitions, sheepdog demonstrations and sale, and industry partner demonstrations from British Wool, Moredun and the Sustainable Control of Parasites in Sheep (SCOPS) group.
“NSA members enter NSA Sheep Event for free on presentation of a current membership card.
“Tickets for non members are now available to buy online at an advanced super saver rate, meaning less time at the gate and more time on the showground enjoying the event. To make the most of the event with your family, under 16’s can enter for free.”
