I believe the government has or is about to allow NZ's only oil refinery to close, so its all imported fuel for us now.
The PM is suffering a bit in the polls so she's going to have to do something to win people back. Cutting fuel tax might help.
Local pump prices currently just over $3 for 91 petrol and $2.20 ish for diesel. Higher in other areas I believe.

About 1 pound 60 a litre for petrol and 1.15 for diesel.
Remember the diesel tax is after the pump so 1 pound 15 is tractor diesel too.

Depends what you are putting it in.
Don't quote me on this but I think for a car its about $80 per 1000km.
For a HGV many many times higher plus you need Road User Chargers for the trailer its pulling too.

It's just taxed differently, pump price for diesel does not include the road user charge, this is extra depending on weight of vehicle.

Jacinda's knocking 25 cents a litre of tax off petrol and cutting public transport fares in half for 3 months.

Just where is Ardern getting the revenue to replace the $0.25 /litre and how is the government paying to run public transport at half the cost? As for the train from Hamilton to Auckland, Te Huia, what a total f**king waste of money!!!
