Have heard a large farm recently sold in Watton area is being all put down to trees, all 600 acres of it.allegedly by a large machinery manufacturer probably something to do with offsetting carbon.

Said it on here before, but if we all planted a small area on our farms the area soon add up and hopefully whole farms wouldnt be lost.

We have more than enough woodland and hedgerows here thanks, can I be exempt from your proposed scheme?
Boils my p**s when I read/see farmers getting a pat on the back for planting hedges when I can remember them pushing the previous one's out.

We have planted awkward corners and poor areas, mainly for the shelter
Yes that’s something we as a family have done for generations plant shelter belts and little copses.
Can’t beat shelter up in the hills for shade and shelter for livestock.
Cows love shade in the summer

I'm sure you can, whenever I go south I notice the trees everywhere and think wtf are they needing more trees here for!? 🤣 but I could handle a few more here, especially hedges.

Nothing wrong with tree's or hedges they're good shelter for stock and keep me in fuel and it's good for nature, but planting thousands of acres of tree's for no other reason than climate change is pointless and won't have any long term effect imo

Same here we are very exposed a handfull here n their no harm, bit shelter and firewood
Son and I went to a talk by the Woodland trust about ancient trees. There are no ancient trees on the farm here, every time a tree gets any bigger than 2' or 2'6" across it blows over. Obviously they need a good talking to by the green eco warrior types!

On the other hand in 20 years time Drax could clear the whole lot in a few months for biomass and then go back to a 1st wheat.
