It was originally sown 6 weeks ago but it was very dry and then it got a deluge of rain but it was too late and what did eventually come has been taken by slugs. Trouble is that I have a SFI agreement that started mid March 23 .

It's the most difficult crop I've ever grown .

A big chunk of mine looks to have failed again. FFS. Needs to go in in may.

Beautiful seedbed. Sat in the dry for weeks. Torrential downpour. Looks ruined.

Mine was sown late July
Looked to be coming ok, but doesn`t seem to be much there now.
Third time I have sown this mix, last years seemed to be rubbish but was surprised how much survived the wet

Is it within the rules to leave the NUM3 sowing until Spring if you have destroyed the previous years NUM3 to establish Winter wheat ? Can you leave a bare stubble over winter if doing the 1 year NUM3 ?

Do what you like ...but that approach just shows why NUM3 and what it is designed to achieve has failed... a 1 year NUM3 is pointless.. enjoy...

Of the two blocks of num3 I put in this autumn, most looks crap. But then, it didn't actually rain to make it grow until late September. Then it got ponds on it.

The one with the heavier grass percentage looks to be doing better. The others I think last week's frost will have knackered it.

I left grass out of the mix last time I drilled some LF. Thought it easier to manage/flail without the grass in there, and gave ability to use gramanicides.

However, at least grass germinates at some point and covers the ground, so next time I'm considering putting grass back in.

I’ve 2 mixes, drilled as multi species winter cover which will magicly become AHL1 in spring… one lot is coming up the other isn’t and I’ve not drilled the headlands… and some “mulispecies” wheat isn’t drilled either.. my SFI actual vs intended is stating to go tits up 🤦‍♂️

The late may down stuff here is incredible.
