Odd looking pig

I have run a closed pig herd since 1986 only buying in semen for replacements, we have several large white x landrace pigs about.

In a pen of 80 pigs all 8 weeks old I saw this today. Never seen anything like it before. It is the only one in the pen i.e. no brothers and sisters look the same.

Any ideas? throwback to Meishan?

It is a boar so it will go the way of the others, had it been a gilt I would have kept it to see.

Has it got any eyesight? looks like wrinkles all over.
It looks like its not thriving as well as the others, but if it can't see I shouldn't be surprised.

On the brightside - more crackling, down side, might have hair left in the wrinkles..

Was it sired by a terminal sire or a damline?
I don't know, lose track of anything but notched gilts and boars after farrowing house. Probably terminal though as damline too pricey to put about willy-nilly. So to speak.

It can see fine I think, certainly was rushing about with the rest and followed me to the door, not too bad size wise for the pen average
Has it always been like this or just developed, as you say saw today?

Only condition that sprung to mind was "greasy pig syndrome"
Greasy pig was my first thought but the skin is not like that (which I have seen a very few times over the years) He was like this when born although not quite so extreme.

Closely monitored, this little critter could provide you with enough material for a saleable story. Is it accepted by all the other piglets?

I once heard tell that pigs are quite clever creatures and there was talk of using one pig to control and supervise the others. No; I wasn't reading George Orwell's 'Animal Farm'. Having said that; are pigs self aware, like chimps
and our selves?

He is completely accepted and at home with his fellows.

Pigs are extremely aggressive to strangers usually, we try not to mix pigs at all, however in a group of over 40 with plenty of space anything but mature boars will get along happily as they can't remember who they don't like I suppose.
