Off road go kart

Not exactly farm machinery…but looking to get an off road go kart for the kids (and possibly me…). Basically seem to be some good quality UK ones from Gemini Karts or quite a lot cheaper Chinese made options. On paper similar spec is about 1/2-2/3 price of UK built options. Just wondering if anyone had any experience with either UK or Chinese karts and any views on reliability/spares for the Chinese option?

If anyone happens to have a Gemini kart sat in the shed and looking to sell then let me know!

We got a ripster 200cc one last December for the kids made in the USA. Came from blitzworld near Stoke on trent. Very happy with it the kids love it, even big enough for me to have a go as well. Best bit is it has a platform on the back to mount a slug pelleter on so can claim the vat back 😀

A mate ran Chinese dirt bikes for years. The engines were all Honda clones so he had no issues keeping them going and parts were easy to come by. If you can keep the engine running, I doubt there's anything else on it you can't sort with a welder.

Thanks. Does 200cc give enough power to keep things interesting?

It'll do 45 unrestricted apparently we've never ran it unrestricted. Has plenty of power to cope with two passengers up our banks. And is alot safer than a quad bike. Though that doesn't stop them trying to race each other!

So went for a Ripster as well. Did you follow the manual and run in at 50% engine speed for first 20 hours? Anything else worth watching out for? One of the steering rods had worked loose today but guessing it wasn’t tightened properly from the outset.

The noise of a banshee on full chat…… amazing! Never forget watching them at MX on the support races!

Would the 300cc Renegade be anything like a substitute for a Gator etc, for shepherding, especially at 1/3 the money.
I'm rather gone of quads, particularly now Grandkids are getting interested, just not really safe enough..
Although a secondhand Jimny on off road tyres still looks better value tbh.

Planet Kart Cross make some serious hardcore stuff, you certainly wouldn't get bored in one of their machines. They are French but no problem keeping up with a coarser's dog in one I suspect

They are good to deal with, I have had a fair few parts off them for another project that I am building.

How you getting on with the ripster? Any regrets? Any advise as I’m looking at one myself
