Exactly, even with chilling (reefer) costs .I'm really not a supporter of live exports to the middle East. I see the Irish have opened up export channels to Algeria and I think Libya. Its just too far and welfare will suffer. It's also hideously inefficient to export live animals Vs finished carcasses.

I hadnt considered that but surely if they can afford to buy the meat they can afford a fridge ? but then having the electric to run them would be an problem, not just simply cost as much as the unreliable /or even politically corrupted supply of it, the more savvy householder would have tried to get solar panels to get over that.problem...so I gather.Live export exists because many of the consumers in these countries do not have reefers. Hence the need for live protein.
