maybe its getting old? but crawling under the newholland to change the 3 hydraulic oil filters, the smaller 2 that you screw into the sideways easy? it was the big one that screws up vertically? undoing them all easy with one of those chain things? but that big one just would not screwon, got it on eventually after alot of trying?

When installing, use oil on the seal and screw on only 0.75 of a turn after seal contacts the base. Use your common sense when installing and they should not be too hard to unscrew. Might need a slight wrench but if you really tug them tight when installing, some will be a pain to remove. The ease of removal depends on the initial installation. That's life.

The engine filter on our 1999 JD6310 is a pain as it's tight between the engine and the chassis rail. It's very hard to get it out, once undue, without tipping it and losing waste oil as well.

The worst is dad's Matbro TS270 where the same applies but the fitter has to be tipped well over to get it out and the drain plug is vertically above the pickup hitch cross bar so spreads oil everywhere.

And why would any designer fit a screw on filter horizontally? It ensures oil spills everywhere.

I concur on the Matbro, horrible job. You can see why some would drive into the paddock, and just dump the oil where it fell.

The thought of taking the wheel off is worse than taking the wheel off.
We don’t have a wheel changer however we use our 5 tonne digger with pallet tines on

A manitou 627 is the worst of mine, a special drain pipe has to be screwed to the sump to release the oil from a valve thing. This is totally out of sight and has to be done by feel.

Filter is then behind an inspection panel that is only just big enough to get the filter out and it has to be turned sideways and then upside down to manage that. You can imagine the mess.
