Oil or LPG?

Do you not think it would benefit from a service, the oil pressure and CO2 readings can be adjusted to optimise the burn and the CH feed and return water temps (can diy this bit) need to be correct, although less critical if not a condensing boiler.

Probably would benefit from a service but I generally work on “if it isn’t broken why fix it” ?

Oil Combi here, fills a bath far faster than from a gravity fed immersion tank.
Havnt put a gravity fed tank in for years ,put a pressurised system in and tank can go next to boiler ,ie

It's done impressively well!! I had a Worcester oil boiler recently that almost caught fire from lack of servicing.....was all sooted up and the soot was smoking. Think in future that will get an annual service just to be on the safe side.

Have a house on each here, gas is great, clean, cheap (running on commercial rate) only downsides is getting a gas boiler man isn't just as easy & getting gas is no problem, till you hit a bank holiday weekend. They put loads of gas pipes round Belfast 15 odd years ago & were connecting people up & selling them gas for buttons, then they jacked the price up.

Oil is handy, there is an oil supplier in every hole in the hedge, boilers are simple, can service them yourself if mechanically minded & if you run out you can get some at the local garage day or night.

Moving our properties to external Oil combies as the LPG boilers pack up....

Better for the tenants, as they can choose their own supplier, cheaper to service as more choice of engineers, better for EPC!

Cons are a lot more expensive and tank capital cost to factor in. I got one 2nd hand last year for a 1/4 of new price but had to travel 300 mile round trip, still a huge saving. Concrete base for the boiler and a good hard standing for tank. Oil Boilers should outlast LPG which start to get ropey after 4-5 years IME.
