I'd just hooked the drill on, filled with seed and calibrated, was shutting the shed as it started to rain, had been a cracking morning and there was a nice dry haze on top :banghead:

Got 12 packs of Exalte destined for some heavy land, was hoping to drill Mon/Tues in better weather but it's just starting p*****g down again!!:mad:

Should I just save it for next year or gamble? Was planning on lots of OSR this year but it hasn't materialized.
I planted 12 acres with seed from last year but the germination was barely half compared to off the combine seed, :banghead:so ended up broadcasting fresh seed on top to patch it up two weeks ago now though. Ths is now at cotyledon stage compared to two true leaves on the older plants.

Have you sold the vad? Always thought they were the business for osr drilling.

No, still got it, but it's not happy with the chopped straw. Brought the Simba Freeflow for eventually DD on the OSR and mainly for the Pea's, Vad really doesn't like drilling them

For me that would be to forward and causing havoc with future weed control ,,,,,,, do you wish you planted a week or two later

Edit ,,,,, it does look well tho ,,,,, most of mine is going into true leaf stage now ,,,,, planted in the last week of aug it emerged into the cooler weather and the windy spell which means that so far we haven't seen to much damage from FB tho they are staring to get around a bit now

Confined one field to the bin today. The few plants there are about to be minced by beetles now it is warming up again. Plug pulled. Cereal seed ordered. Jury out on another two fields but apart from the the rest is looking good to ok.

Will be out with the falcon tomorrow, the day after, and the day after that. Got a lot of OSR this year and the vast majority is looking decent.

Just about to go out with the glyphosate on one field drilled 11 aug. Combination of beetle, slug and poor seedbed killed it.
Went out with the insecticide last night (again) on two fields drilled 16 aug and 2 sept (re-drill). 16th one very patchy, 2nd one good crop but small and vunrable, needs slug pellets today.

This the field drilled 4 aug;

This will be the cheapest field of the four, and probably best yielded.

There's some ridiculously forward stuff on these pictures. Mine usually looks like that in Feb!!

Mine at (expanded) cotyledon, some pushing 1st leaf. This is normal for this time in September sown beginning of September
