I like the description of your drill set up. Any pictures?

Just a poor mans codge up was an old v form chopped bottom off legs and welded twb 12 mill bottoms on they came from brocks then was at a collective sale and got the zone packer for 120 £ don't think any one knew what to do with it stocks seeder back to back one seed one pellets and old front tank , put an 035 hypro jet in the pipe joints to get back pressure and a bit of inch box welded on leg bracket so it ran in front of leg . And coulters came off an old Fiona drill but changing them as got some coulters from a vaddy spirit with double disc and otico press wheel for next year . Going to cut packer and move rings to 45 cm instead of 50 and add an extra one so have 6 to sow cover for beet on sand then split them in spring and make strips for beet and use the other vaddy drill discs to make openers for beet drill

Campus. Drilled with Vaderstad on the 2/3 August. First picture field was cultivated with a topdown and the 2nd and 3rd picture field was ploughed. Both look good, maybe the ploughed field slightly more even.
Both the fields had Biogen digest applied a few days before drilling. We had to incorporate it so we had to plough one field, so it didn't smell to much!

Serious question.......in your honest opinion is it too thick? can it be too thick?

Possibly to thick for me but what do I know ,,,, end of the day we are moving into different territory what with CSFB ,,,,. What was right 3 or 4 years ago possibly isn't right now ,
You will know by harvest , if it's been hit hard by frost whilst flowering and your neighbours haven't then yes it's to thick ,,,,,, if you come on here in 10 months time and get the pub yield thread up and running with I have just harvested 6 t / ha then you had nothing to worry about

Been and had look st it again it's motoring now . Trial of doubling up looks thick but if the swans descend , before we get the stakes in and string it with round baler strong to deter landing could soon strip it and paddle it
