I have Hoggs of Fife to fly the flag for Scotland.
Great solid work boots but they feel like they weigh about 5kg each
My Blundstone, by comparison, feel as light as feathers and are my preferred choice for “run abouts”.
Boots tend to last me yonks as I mostly wear wellies.

Given up on redbacks, they've changed the sole and it just does not last. On Blundstone now and they seem to be fairing better.
You are right; the soles of Redback boots are the weak point. But i put up with it as the comfort is second to none.
We stopped having Hoggs as too heavy- jcb do a nice light lace up work boot. Last a year of everyday use same as hoggs. Never tried it red backs
I suppose they didn't.Suppose they don't owe you too much then?
Seem about £100 on some farm supply websites.
I suppose they didn't.
Can't remember why I swapped to Redbacks from the Rossi's I had before as I don't think I'd worn them out.
Got a pair of Blundstones last Christmas and they seem good, although I've only worn them for best so far. Must say the main thing I've noticed between the brands is that the Rossi's and Blundstone's take quite a bit of breaking in whereas I could wear the Redbacks straight out of the box.
