Old farmer's saying's..... do you know any ?

If you look after the pennies, the pounds will look after themselves.

More haste, less speed.

Its not how fast you go...its when you start

A dripping June puts everything in tune.

I worked on that theory for a while having heard it from my elders.

its rubbish though, sod the pennies till the pounds are earning!

once when my late Uncle was asking of the progress of his combine repair from the local deaLdr it went something like, “how are you getting on, its going to rain tomorrow?”

’not very well’

’well hurry up man, get into gear‘

’i am in gear!’

’well get out of reverse then!’

still makes me chuckle

Soon after I lost my father when aged 29 and faced with running the farm on my own, I was told by a well travelled chemicals rep that a very successful, wealthy and elderly farmer had once memorably told him that, ‘If half the decisions you have to make turn out to be right then you are doing bloody well’.

For well over thirty years of often mixed fortune I have always borne in mind these most apposite words of wisdom.

Last idiot brick off a trailer load: “That’s the one we were looking for”.
Same used to be said when lifting the last drill of spuds.

I heard this quote from a dairy farmer while commenting on the quality of the silage, they’ll eat it before they eat their front feet.
