Last autumn a bit impulsively I bought an opico 575 dryer. Any tips on getting it serviced and ready to go? Also I’m planning on running it from our existing gas tank for the on floor dryers but will need a fair pipe will 100ft of pipe be an issue? Not doing planning to do massive amount but needed something to do a few bits and bobs that are too wet for our on floors as we have stack it too high to get the wind through properly if wet

Not sure you’ll be able to run it from a domestic gas tank. Last one I was involved with was high pressure liquid feed from the bottom of the tank not vapour from a top mounted regulator. It was also an Opico 575.

It’s not a domestic tank it’s the tank for the burner on our floor drier

The burning ring has little holes in it sometimes the get blocked up sharpen a bit of wire to a point to clean them out . There’s a copper pipe from one of the gauges it goes to the burning tunnel and can get blocked with crap just take it off and blow it out . Main drive belt might be worth changing along with the bottom bearing before you start as changing in a nice clean environment under no pressure is way better than doing it in the middle of harvest. If it’s old the discharge shoot can get a touch rusted slowing the grain coming down it , quick sanding will sort it.

Morgan Farm machinery are v helpful and have all spares , say hello you will quite possibly need them. Does your machine have manual control or the magic black box ?

If I’m being honest I’m not entirely sure but I would say manual. I think I will get Morgan’s out to it and give it a quick once over as I’m not entirely familiar with them. It was cheap enough to be worth spending a bit on. It’s certainly not been over used so I’m hoping it should be ok

Had one here for a few years. My advice is don’t skimpIon maintaining it. Make sure all the gas cutoffs work right. New bottom bearing and belts to start with. Shine up the screen and cover where the fan blows in from. If you putting in wet grain it will not want to flow in this are. Fill it with dry grain for an hour to shine up the auger as it will help get everything into working shape. If you go the hydraulic hose route make sure it’s big enough. It’s going to want liquid not vapour as said before. The churning effect on the grain will polish sh!t into gold. Best dryer ever for even drying. Mine burnt but that’s another story lol.

When you fill using the loading auger , on my dryer, standing at the back , the right hand side filled higher than the left , others could be different, stop filling a good 10 inches from the top as even after you switch off the loading auger it rises up some more . Failure to compile means getting the brush and shovel out
