Old school drill calibration help please

We are setting up an accord DF front hopper ath the moment - it's old ground wheel driven unit and was used in the past with a 3m combi drill

There is a chart on the front titled DF 2-8m and shows settings for various rates and also stated that 85 turns of the meter = 1/10th Ha ................. what confuses me is its the 2-8m title as surely that would depend on the width?

Assuming my chart is for a 3m would simply assuming that 85 turns = 1/20th of a Ha when doing our calibration for our 6m toolbar?

I think df2 is the machine and width is 8m?

I think it's from a 3m drill so a DF3 it might have been a DF4 though - not sure !!

I can only assume the way the accord could use this same calibration chart on models from 2-8m would have been to fit the different width hoppers with different sized land wheels? if that is the case then I need to be sure what width this hopper was from

Back in the day when i was a lot younger, we did this took a 6mt accord drill and mounted the hopper and metering wheel on a 4 mt bettison tool bar. had the same thing couldnt get my head around the reduction in width, strangley enough calibrated it as you would and everything worked. To this day i still cant get my head around it.

I think it is the same for them all but the gears in the side of the land wheel ,were the chain is are different for different widths

No idea If this would work

10000 square meter a hec
6m x 100m test in field. Drive slow and count metering wheel revolutions. Back to shed and fill hopper , turn wheel the amount counted for 100m and weigh product and multiply up over the hec ?

When we used to build front hoppers from old drills with land wheels we used to change the gear set to suit the width of drill . 3 m and 4 m are defiantly different .

This is the chart off my old 3m DF1 front hopper, taken two mins ago.
Sorry pic isnt better, sticker is tired like the drill.
Not sure the exact ratio but one full turn of the land wheel turns the metering shaft slightly more maybe a turn and a 1/10th approx. I count the exact ratio if you need it

Df1 has 1 metering unit and Df2 has 2 and is a split tank.

The chain and gears in the side coming off the landwheel determine what size machine it matches up to. If you go on the Kv website and look through the parts manuals for yours it will tell you the different gear options, how many teeth the gear has and what width it matches.

Could you not calibrate it as a 3m and then double it for the time being?

Just to confuse you my df2 calibrated correctly at 42.5 turns.
Only found out after drilling the first field and realised I'd used half the amount of seed.
It's now written on the tank in permanent marker.

Does it have an area meter as shown in your pic., the gear to drive the meter will be different depending on the width of the drill, count the cogs and check it out. Accord used to have a pretty good website for parts lists on older drills, put that serial number in as a reference.
