Old simms fuel filter cross ref - Help

Hard to believe the tractor outlasted the supply of filters.
Probably sold very few filters for them even back in the day, lads washing them out ....

unless he has old stock from 40 plus years ago I doubt he will help. it was obsolete many moons ago.
yes I am sure Jim will be able to help, some years ago he bought the entire stock of a filter maker that closed down, crossland or greyfriars,... 15 arctic loads and that is only small part of his stock, if someone wanted a filter for a machine made in the 1940's I am sure he can supply

Eye Charnleys told me that they went obsolete in 1988 and to fit their conversion kit at £35 plus vat plus P&P so if I can't locate the element I'll have to go down that route

think that's what Charnley's told dad yes, not sure if dads done anything about it yet other than wash the filter out again like he has been doing for the past 20 years since buying this tractor:banghead: :ROFLMAO:

Dads got quite a few old spares knocking around so he will sort it out in the end, probably mid winter when he's trying to use it cutting logs:facepalm:

If Charnley's cant get it then it isn't available anywhere.

But .............
As its just a paper element could you get one "close" and just ensure the filter seal sits on a good flat surface top and bottom?
Instead of asking for a 460 fuel filter, ask for a paper element with X, Y and Z dimensions?
It hasn't a very elaborate fuel system so down to a few microns should be fine, don't you think?

Probably not that easy?

because I tried several other filter specialists and got the same answers. if Charnley's could get hold of them they would sell them, they are the go to people for all things Nuffield and Leyland if you want original.

Jim could of cause have old stock knocking around from years back of cause which no one knows about.

The filter has a rubber seal on the top of it that also seals the top lid of the filter head.
