Old thorn stuck in leg

I got a shard of mirror glass in the side of my hand back in the summer. It stopped pussing up after a few weeks without coming out, and I thought it would be in there for the long haul then.
But after three or four months it started to shift, and touched on the bone, which made it a bit sore whenever anything touched it.
My sister's kids moan about her always wanting to squeeze their spots and the like, so I handed the job over to her. Half an hour's excavations with a Stanley knife blade, a needle and some tweezers got it out. And I put some good tooth marks in my leather belt!

Foreign bodies will want to come to the surface. To find a splinter can be needle in haystack job so pare the skin as flat as you can bear then some kind of modern poultice to draw it to the surface. Chemist could provide the dressing. If it gets more infected then will need some surgery

Yes, very good for slicing and peeling flesh back.

I haven't had a chance to have a dig yet, still bloody painful when it gets leant on though.

I had a pea sized lump on my knee for years. I never knew what it was and it didn't bother me. One day I noticed a bit of black near the surface so I squeezed it and out popped a 1cm thorn! Even though it caused me no pain, it was a relief to get it out. Lump disappeared soon after.

Animalintex poultice. Get it from horse shops. You get enough to keep you going for a few years if you're not too hard on yourself! Cut a little bit off, soak it a few minutes in hot water and put it on the bit where the thorn is. Bandage it on and leave it overnight. Sorts me out! It's meant to be for animal use only, but I've been ok with it.......
