Old tractor for a garden ornament

Anything that looks like a tractor is going to be over £1k, as the tinwork is the first thing to rust away.
Depending on age of grandson either buy a dead lawn tractor from ebay or buy a project that you can work on together?
 
Why not buy a half decent grey fergie or similar, mothball it, block up the inlet and exhaust, overfill the engine and gearbox with oil, and then when he's old enough you can get it running together and drive it.

It may also have doubled in value by then too.
