Old weather symbols?

I have an old family diary from 1727/8.. it's a fascinating insight into the long lost life of an ancestor but the diary is partially printed with stuff for each month ..the pertinent bit for this thread is the weather forecasts for the month..anyone know what the symbols represent?

Was thinking they might be fore runners of emojis!

I have a feeling they are the symbols for the heavenly bodies- moon, planets, etc,

Wow. Must be a fascinating read indeed. How detailed is it? Read one or two published bits of historical diaries, no better way to really get a feel of what people's lives were actually like in the period imo. And yours is almost 300 years old, must be fairly rare

It looks like the old Saints Days. I don't why July 8th says Mary Q Scot. I had a google and can't see anything that happened to the famous Mary on that day, there must have been a Saint Mary.

Strange, either they had incredibly neat handwriting or most of it is printed (?)

It looks like a printed Almanack with notes written in.
