I think you should go back to the cause of the problem. The front furrow. We changed our cultivations as the boom was a bit wavy at times. Rocking and rolling tramlines would not be ideal with any sprayer I wouldn't have thought, although the Bateman Contour boom might be worse than others, I don't know.
Either look at tyre width, don't plough, or plough in the same direction as the tramlines (which I know won't always work). We had the problem with x pattern disc combinations, now gone to Simba SLD which all throw the same way, and with auto steer we also now work in lands.

Trailed sprayer you say, hum, I suppose I could start a thread to discuss the whole trailed v's self propelled issue, I am not sure its been done before. As for buying a Fendt, I could only dream.

As regards land work, it is worse with less cultivation but it also a problem on land that has been sumo, unipress and vaderstad and rolled like a billiard table - so yes we can take steps to reduce it but it just won't go away. Last night I was spraying land that was ploughed and furrow pressed really well, unipressed well and then drilled in lovely conditions. Smooth tramlines (although it felt like I was sitting on a massive vibrator going over the fert spreader cleat marks) and the boom just gently swayed up and down with no apparent link to changes in the ride of the sprayer.

I really appreciate everyone's input _ i am going to ask Bateman to come and look at the sprayer boom, but the issue of tank size remains an issue

Cheers all

You need to disconnect the 8 shock absorbers on the boom and check each one, there shouldn’t be any soft spots in there stroke. You should be able to feel the dampening all the way through the stroke and when you change there direction it should instantly feel dampened not soft.
Any soft ones need replacing, just one failed damper will make the contour boom “Lively” to say the least!
They aren’t cheap though, about £80 each from Bateman, but worth the money as you will see a difference of they’re knackered.
I managed to get some slightly heavier duty ones from my local motor factors but took ages to come.

Are there not some more less known but monster SP sprayers about, don't landquip and similar make ones with big tanks on monster tyres etc? Many of them from memory had serious engines and full powershift gearboxes which would take you away from hydrostats and the like.

Are any of these any good?
